Here Today, Gone Tomorrow!

It’s incredible to witness how nature embraces change. One day it’s dark and barren, and the next moment you see welcome signs of spring. How do they know when to grow back? I’ve always wondered. It’s pure magic to witness the transition, and this was my first. As I experienced all four seasons for the first time in my life, I was yet again amazed by the world’s ability to adapt and transform.
The transition to Canadian summer is a spectacle. The city transforms into a lively haven of joy and activity. I even think people are much happier when the sun is out. It almost, in no time, lifts the spirits dampened by the long, cold months. The tree outside my window, which stood barren during the winter suddenly exploded with delicate blossoms. The days were longer, and the air was filled with the scent of blooming flowers. What a sight indeed!

Little N was the most excited to get rid of his winter clothes and get into comfortable summer wear. He’s never worn long sleeves since the first sign of spring. There were people soaking up the precious warmth of the sun in every way possible. Patios and outdoor cafes were bustling with energy. We made sure to make the most of it as well. As soon as the clock hit 5 p.m., we were out to savor every outdoor adventure. From trail walks to picnics to sunset strolls to boat rides to Ferris wheels to beach days to never ending ice-creams, we did it all. We also transformed our balcony into a beautiful haven of relaxation. Back in Dubai, I’d never tried my hand at DIYing something. I always hired help. But it was different this time around. From fixing up work desks to tiling my balcony, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone as I make my way in this new city. We now have our own little balcony patio that breathes life into my new space - something more than just a physical space. I have a space to sip my morning coffee, share stories with friends, watch my baby boy blow away soap bubbles like there is no end, or just enjoy some me time.
We also took a trip to the ridiculously beautiful and very photogenic Montréal. Known for its history and heritage, this city mesmerized us with its beautiful cathedrals, unforgettable views from Mount Royal, breathtaking landscapes at the Botanical Garden, and a lot more. Montréal needs a story of its own and just cannot be part of this. So, wait up folks!

All this is so short-lived that we learn to appreciate it more than we ever have. I’ve never craved sunshine and warm weather in my life like I have in the past few months. Canadians, well accustomed to long, harsh winters, truly understand the value of each fleeting moment of warmth. The awareness of its transitory nature makes the whole experience more valuable.
The Canadian summer is more than just a season. It is a celebration in every way possible. It is a reminder that there is light at the end of the tunnel (quite literally), a reminder that beauty can emerge from even the harshest conditions.
We are only here today, yet we’ll be gone tomorrow.
